Journal page "She is "

Today I made this journal page which was inspired by this month's challenge from Lindy. I have to confess that I had nothing in mind until I saw the photo in pinterest. It had just the right colors for the challenge. I wanted to make something more relaxed so I just played around with my sprays. First I started off with a layer of plaster on my page. Then I added some acrylic. Afterwards I mixed together frozen jack frost and Frolic in the forest and then I used a baby wipe and it turned out black but you could still see the background colors. Then I took a 8b pen and I drew some lines to make it look like wood. Then taking a spatula I made some stains and on top of them I used some stamps. I stuck the photo and I added Time travel teal to make the color stand out more and finally I wrote the phrase that I chose. :)

Hello everyone !!

After a difficult week, because of the lack of water in my city and the overflowing of water in the rivers close to the city of Lima, I've found time to make this journal. I was inspired by my BEAUTIFUL daughter, who I refer to in Spanish as "Caterpillar". When you say it in Spanish (Oruga), it sounds cute. Since I began calling her that, everybody would do the same until I thought that they were forgetting that her real name was "Illary", (which means "sunrise" in Quechua) followed by her middle name "Itzayana", (which means "gift from God" in the Mayan language). Time has flown by quickly and she's actually going to be 3 on the 29th of March and I can't believe it. She's  starting to leave her cacoon to become a beautiful butterfly and I only ask God to let me live long enough to see her grow and grow up. For this journal I used lots of BUTTERFLIES made of acetate to decorate it. I hope you like it.

Canvas"America the beautiful"

Hola !!

Hello!!

Today I want to present this canvas  that I made. I was inspired by a moodboard because it made me think about a piece of history from my country. I was inspired by the different colors: the red, black, and gold colors,  Also the feathers and the small Native American house inspired me too.

The title of my canvas is "America the Beautiful", but when I say America, I'm sure that a lot of people think about the United States. But here in Latin America we refer to both North America and South America as "America", because it's actually one continent, which has had a lot of different cultures that with the passing of time have fought for their liberty and independence. Today I want to tell you all about a small fragment of our Peruvian history. Here in Peru, before the Spaniards came, there was an empire (the Inka Empire) which encompassed various regions, including all of Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru, and parts of Colombia and Chile. The Inkas had formed a union between various different tribes. The Inka Empire reined until the point where an Inka king had died and left behind two sons. They were Huascar and Atahualpa. The first one was the son of the Inka king's wife and the latter was the son of a concubine the king had. Atahualpa didn't have the right to inherit the throne but Huascar did because he was the son of the wife of the deceased king. Atahualpa never accepted Huascar's kingship so a civil war ensued from which Atahualpa resulted as the victor. Atahualpa became king around the same time the Spaniards had entered the north part of the empire, which is actually from where Atahualpa launched his rebellion. The Spaniards approached Atahualpa in a friendly way but it was only trick so that they could ambush the city where Atahualpa was. After capturing Atahualpa, the Inka king offered the Spaniard "Francisco Pizarro" a room full of gold filled up until the ceiling for his release. For the Spaniards, gold and silver had a different value than it did for the Inkas. Unfortunately Pizarro did not keep his side of the bargain and the Inka king was assassinated. Since there was no leader in the Inka empire, chaos ran rampant and the Spaniards began to pillage and lute all the cities of the Inka Empire. The indigenous people attempted many times to fight back, but every rebellion was crushed. Many  were murdered, but also many had succumbed to simple illnesses such as the flu. Also many died in the gold mines where the Spaniards had forced them to become slaves. Only the strongest survived until independence.
